Hospital U’s LMS-Award Winning Technology Subsidized by the Federal Government
Following is a list of FAQ’s about this project:
Q: What is Hospital U?
A: A not-for-profit e-learning collaborative founded in 1999 by Dept. of Labor grants-charged with helping not-for-profit healthcare systems better deploy learning technology. Over the past 9 years we have helped dozens of the nation’s leading healthcare systems.
Q: What about your LMS?
A: We do not advertise. All of our clients are word of mouth and to date we have more than 100,000 learners using our Award Winning LMS
Q: What are the awards?
A: Hospital U has won the 2 most significant learning awards in the industry, including ASTD’s Excellence in Practice Award, as well as IQPC’s Cubic Award
Q: How much does the LMS cost?
A: Because we are largely funded by federal and state grants, there is no cost to use our software. The grants require a maintenance stipend, and therefore we only charge for maintenance and services to support the software, such as integration with HRIS, hosting, and help desk. These costs are optional.
Q: How does total cost of ownership of the Hospital U LMS compare to others?
A: We just completed a major research project on the state of the healthcare LMS. Many hospitals and healthcare systems use 1 of 2 types of systems. The healthcare LMS, which currently has much of the market, is $12-20 per user. Many stand alone hospitals had this LMS for 1-2 hospitals, then when they expanded to a system level, the software has often been problematic. As a response, healthcare systems have also been migrating to other industry LMS software, costs are even higher, $25-$50 per user, and these prices often do not even include additional services. Our total cost of ownsership, including LMS and services, will be guaranteed at least 1/2 of the price of the hospital LMS, and 1/4th the cost of industry LMS. These are significant cost savings.
Q: How does your technology compare to other LMS? If the cost is much less, does that mean the technology is not as good?
A: The opposite. Our LMS is built on state of the art Microsoft technology known as .Net 2.0. Most other products in the market are not there yet. Their products often have technical limitations that we do not tend to encounter. In addition, our technology includes much newer technology such as our RAD-ical iPod Learning Store Front, with 1200 mobile modules, Virtual Classroom, Content Factory for rapid PowerPoint conversion, and dedicated Learning Portals for each major learning product line.
Q: How many healthcare systems can take advantage of this project?
A: We have room for 25 hospitals and healthcare systems, or another 100,000 users in this grant.
Q: How do Hospital U’s services compare?
A: Most LMS providers wine and dine the client to get the contract, but upon execution, when you require services, they are no where to be found. When we write these grants, all resources go into the products and services and little to no funds go into marketing. When you call us we are there immediately. The quality of our services and support is fantastic, very well known, and can be attested to by all our members.
Q: What number can I call for more information?
A: 514-744-3317
